The biggest dorado will always be caught by trolling, or fishing deep with live bait.
However, very large dorado can also be captured with a spinning rod--and even a fly rod, when conditions permit.
Fly fishing is nearly impossible when the Uruguay River's waters have recently flooded and the river is very deep in many areas. But when the water levels are low, the conditions for dorado fishing on the fly are excellent, and many of our clients have landed enormous fish when the conditions were right.

If you plan to spin cast, you need not bring your own fishing tackle. We have terminal tackle available, and it is included in the price.
However, if you do plan to fish with a fly, plan to bring your own outfit. We used to provide fly tackle for our dorado fishing clients, but our Golden Dorado fishing guides reported that client's rarely used them--prederring to bring their own.
We understand. Fly anglers are just different, they march to the beat of a different drummer in trout rivers, salmon streams, and even dorado fishing--no real surprsie there....
